The Windy & Chilly City

It was a chilly day in the windy city and the temperature dipped down to about 10 degrees. But the sun was out and we had 4 hours to wander about before our flight home, so off we went to the Navy Pier!
We didn't ride the ferris wheel this time, but we did run into the Polish Parade and Festival, and boy was there a lot of dancing, singing (Abba?) and polish sausages to be had. Here's a little trivia for you: On "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", Ferris ends up singing in a parade ... the Polish Parade in Chicago!
We walked the shops of the Magnificent Mile, took in the tall buildings of Chicago, walked by Oprah's studios and took in the incredible architecture of the city.
One more piece of trivia for you about the windy city - most people think Chicago is called the "Windy City" because of the winds blowing across Lake Michigan, but actually the term was coined at the turn of the century to describe the big-mouth, blowhard politicians who ran the city! Chicago also boasts itself as the 3rd largest city in the USA, the 2nd on the FBI's list of most law-abiding cities, and the 5th fattest city in America! Must be all of those polish sausages :)
