CHEC-ing out S.America

I thought I would best explain why I'm traveling from city to city in S.America, and with whom. I am currently recruiting international students as part of the CHEC CIS South America Tour. The CHEC group is the Canadian Higher Education Committee. We have about 40 members in CHEC and we are a committee of the Council of International Schools (www.cois.org). CHEC organizes group recruitment tours which helps us promote Canada as a post-secondary education destination. As a group, we are able to draw a larger crowd of students and we host mini-fairs at selected CIS international high schools. CHEC tours have been organized for India, the Middle East and now Central/South America. This year is the second year of this tour.

The tours are organized by CHEC member universities and often involve multiple cities in a two week period. The tour is intense and we are often in a city for 1-3 days before we head off to the next. We try to maximize our time by visiting schools in the day and then hosting receptions for counselors in the evening. Often we also meet with Canadian Embassy officials and get updates from them on the country we are visiting.

Here are my happy, shiny CHEC colleagues on our bus in Lima!
